The Society of the Cincinnati is the nation’s oldest patriotic organization, founded on May 13, 1783, by officers of the Continental Army who served together in the American Revolution. The founding took place at Mount Gulian, which served as Baron von Steuben’s headquarters, near Fishkill, New York.
